My
favorite scripture is: How impossible to
choose a favorite scripture! Lately I've been going back
to II Peter 1:16. Peter speaks of his discipleship with Christ and
testifies, "For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made
known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were
eyewitnesses of his majesty." This is how I feel as a member of The Church
of Jesus Christ. Jesus' majesty is present in all the concrete details of
everyday life. And of course we have witnessed great miracles and the
power of the Holy Ghost. How wonderful!
Matthew 9:20-22.......
a
woman ........came behind Him, and touched the hem of His garment; for she
said within herself, if I may touch his garment, I shall be made whole. But
Jesus turned Him about and when He saw her, he said, daughter, be of good
comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from
that hour.
At a time of medical crisis and fear I called on my Lord for peace and
resolution to my concerns. He sent the scripture above by inspiring one of my
Ministers to spontaneously, by Divine intervention, bring it forth.
Knowing immediately that God was answering my prayers, I was overwhelmed by
His Grace & Compassion. He resolved the whole matter.
I
found then & find today as I read it over & over how AWESOME my God is !!!
What peace to know I am His daughter and He knows how much I love Him and how
grateful I am for My Savior, His Son, Jesus Christ.

Louise Donkin When I was new in the church, one of the brothers from our branch was very sick in the hospital. I was praying for him and was inspired to read some Scripture. As I opened my Bible, the first verse I read was this: John 16:33......."These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." These words gave me great peace and assurance that God was in control, not matter what might happen to my brother in Christ. I shared this experience with him and he was greatly blessed. Since then, I remember this scripture every time a challenge, heartache, or problem comes into my life - and it gives me hope, encouragement and peace. Sis. Jody Greger Modesto Branch, CA Mine is the 91st Psalm. This was the very first scripture that the Lord "gave to me to read" while I was still new in the Gospel. I had a lot of money stolen from me while I was at work and didn't know how I could work with anyone I suspected of doing such a thing. Not only did he make me feel at peace, I was able to share the scripture with three other co-workers and explain how God had given me His PEACE. Love, Sis. Jacqui King - Imperial Branch. PA I am torn between two scriptures as being my very favorite. First, Proverbs 3:5:6 – “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” I have experienced the truth in this scripture many times over. For surely when we place our trust and faith in the Lord (which we should always do, but oft times we don’t) he does indeed direct our paths and we can rest assure that it will be the straight and narrow. Secondly, Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. When I read this scripture, my heart rejoices. For what or who can separate us from the love of God? It gives me hope and courage that no matter what trials we go through, or what obstacles we face, nothing should separate us from His love. And when I read this scripture I often think of Joshua’s words, “Choose you this day, whom you will serve; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. Sister Maria Peterkin New Brunswick, NJ Branch My favorite scripture is II Nephi 33:6.......
I glory in plainess: I glory in Sister Linda D'Orazio At our last ladies circle meeting, I had asked one of our teenage girls to prepare the lesson and it was on "What is your favorite verse and why?" We had a very interesting and uplifting discussion which we all enjoyed. Then the next day, I read the message from the General Circle which asked us the same question. Here are a few verses from our sisters in Lake Worth.
Name: Josie Jasmin Favorite Verse: Isaiah Chapter 40 Verse 31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as Eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Why: This verse is very comforting to me and reminds me to have patience and wait upon the Lord for all things, naturally and spiritually.
Name: Alexandria Difede Favorite Verse: Psalm 23 "The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want"......... Why: I have always liked to read this psalm as a youngster. It gives me comfort and I am memorizing it.
Name: Flo Perri Favorite Verse: Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice in it and be glad." Why: To me every day is the Lord's Day and I thank God He has allowed me to awake make the best of each day. I am happy when the sun shines and I am thankful for the rain to nourish this beautiful world God has created for us to enjoy.
It is really difficult to choose just one, but lately,
I've been praying about 'working for the Lord'. Am I doing enough? Can I do
more? Will I have the strength to do what the Lord wants me to do? I keep
coming back to the following 2 verses: Hebrews 13:21 "Make you perfect in
every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in
his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
and Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me."
I love knowing that I CAN do ALL things through Christ !
Sister Angela Yoder - Imperial, PA
I have many favorite scriptures,
but this one is very important to me. I was given a beautiful experience with
this scripture that came at a time in my life when I really needed to hear
these words, and these words have taught me a great lesson that I hope to
carry with me for the rest of my life.
--Philippians
4:11-13.
"Not that I speak in
respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be
content.
I know both how to be
abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am
instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer
need.
I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me."

Sis. Josefina Luna Bell Branch, CA I John, 4:8- He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. I like this verse because of a difficult situation a had with a person. I was being bothered by a person and began to feel hate for that person. But God touched my heart and I began to sing a song that God gave me. The song is titled “Teach me Lord to love my neighbor” Sis. Sonia Martinez Bell Branch, CA Isaiah 41:10- Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. I like this scripture very much because I had a very powerful dream. In the dream I didn’t know what to do so I prayed to God. I took a Bible and I opened to Isaiah 41 and my eyes were directed to that verse. In this way God comforted me a lot and made me feel safe. For this I give much thanks to God because He is always with me. May God bless you sisters. Sis. Teresa Sanchez Bell Branch, CA Isaiah 41:10- Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. This is one of my favorite scriptures because when I remember these words they help me go forward, they uplift me, and they give me strength. I feel that everything is possible for me because my father and God our Lord Jesus Christ is with me. Sis. Natali Luna Bell Branch, CA Proverbs 16:1- The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. I like this verse because it comes to be God’s will. Sis. Diane McDonnell Bell Branch, CA Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it This verse was inscribed on a bronze place card that was placed in a planter, beneath a large flagpole at the Christian pre-school my sons attended. I would stop and read this often and received such a comfort, knowing we had placed them in a Christian environment. Along with our church, they were getting a firm Christian foundation. I thank God that this many years later, both of our sons are Deacons and we continue to serve the Lord as a family. Sister Virginia Surprenant Bell Branch, CA Phil 4: 6-7 Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made know unto God. And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. These verses keep me focused that in everything I must ask the Lord by prayer & supplication and to be thankful for whatever He gives me. I truly find peace in my mind and heart. Praise God. Sis. Karen Elzby Tucker Bell Branch, Ca Since I was in the hospital in 2006, and very sick, a minister from our branch came to visit me and brought me a quote on a little piece of cardboard. I kept that piece of cardboard with the quote under my blanket everyday. I kept it with me where ever I went during my 30 day stay in the hospital. The quote said “ Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God will. There were many days that I doubted that God would see me thru this illness, or that I would overcome this cancer, but God did see me thru. I am so thankful that this was given to me at a time when I needed to hear that God will! This may not be my favorite “scripture” but the words helped me and I wanted to share this experience with you. I know God will see you thru your trails as well. God Bless you Sis Debbie McDonnell Bell Branch, CA II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind .Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me. These two scriptures that have come to mean a lot to me are since I had the follow experience. A couple years ago our circle was asked to present the seminar at the fellowship weekend. I had just been elected our new teacher so I was afraid the task of writing and presenting most of the seminar would fall on me. I am shy by nature so I was terrified and did not think I could do it. I began to fast and pray. I was willing to help or do “my little part” but was hoping the Lord would maybe ask someone else to take the lead. A few days later the Lord gave me a vision while I was at work. It was like I was watching a video of my own testimony and I heard myself say words I have said so often, “I want to work for the Lord, no matter what He has for me to do”. At that moment I heard the voice of the Lord ask me “Were you lying”. I felt such shame. I truly did want to work for the Lord but I was afraid. Later that day while I was thinking about this experience, these 2 scriptures came to mind. I knew the Lord had answered my prayers and I stepped out on faith and did take the lead in the seminar. God was truly with me and His blessings were there with all of us that weekend. I turn to these scriptures now when I find myself feeling insecure or fearful and I find strength and comfort. God is so good. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed
down, and when I first came to church some 30 years ago, I had never heard of the Book of Mormon and of course was very questioning of it. but I did ask God about it and began to read starting at the beginning , this was before my baptism. when I got to Mosiah 4:5-10, the spirit of God spoke so strongly, I have always been convicted, vs. 9" Believe in God: believe that he is that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth ;and believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you, and now if you believe all these things see that ye do them." In His name, sis jan cornell My favorite scripture is in the Book of Ecclesiastes - Chapter 3 verses 1-8 regarding time. Time governs our lives and these verses encompass what each and everyone of us will go through at some point in our lives. Time is precious and I've learned that we shouldn't put off doing things with our family, church, friends, etc. because sometimes life robs us of that previous time. I'm known for saying --- there are only moments in the day that you can say ALL IS WELL - treasure those moments and take time. Love, Sis. Dottie Benyola My favorite verse is John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Jesus gives us hope for the future. As we serve God to the best of our ability, He will have a mansion waiting for us. Our hope is not in vain. The Lord and His promises are true. Sister Mary Perri
